Officials say they are investigating the death of a Weedsport man after an incident on Sunday.
Sheriff David Gould reports that on Sunday at approximately 1:02 pm the Cayuga County E-911 Center dispatched deputies to investigate a report of a person laying near the railroad tracks in the area of the Oakland Road bridge in the Town of Brutus.
The call had been received by an employee of CSX railways who was aboard a passing train.
Responding law enforcement and medical personnel found an adult male lying by the tracks, deceased.
The victim was later identified as Christopher Pille, 35, of Weedsport. The victim sustained injuries consistent with a fall from the bridge.
Railway traffic was suspended in this area for two hours while the initial investigation was completed.
The investigation into the death is ongoing.
