Village of Newark thanks Eleanor Palermo for 15 years of service as Deputy Clerk/Treasurer

The Village of Newark would like to thank Eleanor Palermo for her 15 years of service as the Deputy Clerk/Treasurer. What started out as a part time job originally, evolved to where she was responsible for all aspects of payroll, assisting in the administration of employment benefits, receiving and processing cash receipts, managing front desk services and answering incoming calls related to constituent issues. She was also the custodian of all official records and assisted the Clerk/Treasurer in the management and administration of the municipal office and its staff.

Previous to her career with the Village of Newark she worked for Seneca Foods for almost 30 years. Her comprehensive background at their Geneva and Marion plants allowed for a smooth transition into the Village’s office staff. Ellie, as she is known by the Village employees and the community, is a breath of fresh air that always greets everyone with a warm smile. Her ability to put residents at ease when they came in with issues will be missed. She is looking forward to spending more time with her three (3) children, four (4) grandchildren, two (2) great grandchildren and her sister.

Mayor, Jonathan Taylor, stated “Ellie’s energy, and enthusiasm will be missed, not only by our staff, but the residents of our village and our Board. Ellie greeted everyone with a smile.  She is very compassionate, kind and always tried to help everyone she came across every day.  As Mayor, I want to thank her for her commitment to the Village and wish her well in her retirement!”

“She is a great asset to the Village and to me personally.  She will be sorely missed.  I wish her many healthy and enjoyable years in the next phase of her life.” said Clerk/Treasurer Steve Murawski.

There will be an open house August 21st, 2018 from 12PM to 4PM in the Village of Newark’s third floor conference room, located at 100 East Miller Street, Newark, New York 14513 to give residents and friends an opportunity to express their appreciation for her dedication to the Village.
