Two people were injured after a one-car crash in Aurelius on Tuesday after a drunk driver collided with a utility pole.
Around 8:30 pm Lori N. Shinkle, 30, of Auburn was traveling down Route 326 when she crashed a pickup truck into a utility pole – rolling it over.
She and the truck’s passenger, Ricky Meehan, were both injured, according to State Police.

Troopers smelled alcohol coming from Skinkle, state police said. She consented to a blood test at the hospital and was arrested following the crash. Charges are pending and what Skinkle is charged with will depend on the severity of her passenger’s injuries, state police said.
She suffered back and neck injuries as result of the crash. Both were sent to Upstate University Hospital by AMR Ambulance.
Firefighters from Aurelius also responded to the scene. Assistant Chief Joe Foster told the Auburn Citizen that both were out of the truck by the time personnel arrived on-scene.
First responders had requested a helicopter to transport the victims to the hospital, but the helicopter was unable to fly due to weather conditions, Foster said. The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office and Union Springs Fire Department also responded to the scene.
