LATEST: Fleming man charged with BWI after two hurt in Owasco Lake accident

Sheriff David Gould reports that on Sunday at approximately 6:11 pm the Cayuga County E-911 Center received a call of a personal injury boating accident, which had occurred on Owasco Lake in the Town of Fleming.

The investigation into that accident revealed that Frank R. McKay, 57, of Fleming was the operator of a 1988 Harris 28 ft pontoon boat when two passengers on this boat exited the boat and got into the water.

These two individuals, Amy McKay, 43, of Throop and William Lansbury, 44, of Auburn were subsequently struck by the running boat motor and injured.

Amy McKay sustained a serious injury to her arm and was airlifted to University Hospital by Mercy Flight Helicopter.

William Lansbury sustained injuries to his lower extremities and was transported to University Hospital by AMR Ambulance.

There were approximately 10 to 12 occupants of the vessel at the time of the incident, according to Gould.

Frank R. McKay was arrested at the scene for Boating while intoxicated.

He was arraigned in the Town of Fleming Court and released on his own recognizance to appear back in court at a later date.
