Sheriff: Rochester man threatened to detonate bomb at del Lago

On Friday at approximately 4 pm, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Del Lago Resort & Casino for the reported bomb threat.

Deputies quickly identified the subject in question and detained him pending an investigation.

Upon conclusion of the investigation, deputies arrested Ronald W. Sibs, 53, of Rochester for Disorderly Conduct and Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Second Degree.

The falsely reporting charge is a felony.

The charges stem from Sibs using obscene language and threatening to detonate a bomb all while on the phone outside del Lago. This was overheard by a witness who called 911 initiating a police, fire and EMS response.

It was determined that this bomb threat was false and there was no threat to the public.

Sibs was arraigned at 8 am in front of Justice Folk in the presence of the Seneca County District Attorneys Office and the Seneca County Public Defenders Office.

He was held without bail pending due to prior felony convictions. A felony hearing is scheduled for August 15th.
