Deputies: Lyons man faces additional charges after July court appearance

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Lyons man on assault and harassment charges on Wednesday following an investigation into an incident on ‘Blow Off Day’ in Sodus at a court apperance.

Christopher J. Bell, 23, of Lyons was in the Town of Sodus Court on July 11th being arraigned on an unrelated matter stemming from an incident that occurred during the “Blow Off Day” festivities in the Village of Sodus Point.

Following Bell’s arraignment it is alleged that Bell attacked the Sodus Town Court security officer. As Deputies escorted Bell out of the courtroom it is alleged that he intentionally bumped into the court security with his shoulder, then while being taken to the ground by deputies, Bell then intentionally used his knee to strike the court security officer.

It was later discovered that Bell’s actions caused significant pain and bruising to the court security officer.

A warrant was issued for Bell’s arrest for third-degree assault and was issued an appearance ticket for second-degree harassment.

Bell was arraigned before Judge Fratangelo who released Bell upon his own recognizance. Deputies say he is to reappear in the Town of Sodus Court at a later date and time for further court proceedings.
