Seneca County span over Thruway closed for repairs

A $1.4 million bridge rehabilitation project gets underway in Seneca County today and will result in the span’s closure through the end of November.

The New York State Thruway Authority said the project for the Whiskey Hill Road Bridge, which crosses the Thruway, will include deck replacement of the bridge and other safety-related upgrades.

The bridge was originally built in the 1950s and was last rehabilitated in 1994, according to the Thruway Authority.

During the scheduled closure, traffic will be detoured via Route 318 to Stone Church Road and to Donnelly Road. In a news release, the agency said variable message signs will advise motorists of the bridge closure and detours. The work and closure are weather dependent and subject to change, it said.
