IPD SWAT Team finds fentanyl-laced heroin and handgun while serving search warrant

The Ithaca Police SWAT Team is accusing a 39-year-old Ithaca woman of possessing fentanyl-laced heroin and a handgun.

The SWAT team served a search warrant at a home on the 500 block of Stewart Avenue at 6 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said. Police found the weapon and the drugs at Aisha Smith’s home.

Police arrested Smith and transported her to the police department for booking, officers said. Smith was arraigned in Ithaca City Court on charges of felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Smith was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash or a $30,000 bond.
