The Auburn Police Department Local 195 has announced their support of Det. Lt. Brian Schenck in his campaign to become the next Cayuga County sheriff.
In a press release Tuesday, the Auburn police union highlighted Schenck’s extensive law enforcement career and his “willingness to share his wisdom and insight” with the department.
In March, Schenck announced his intention to run for sheriff should Sheriff David Gould retire. Soon after, Gould confirmed he would retire in December after serving three terms as sheriff.
Schenck is running unopposed on the Republican line. He has received support from both the sheriff and police unions.
