Deputies say they were called to Ovid for suspicious activity on Thursday around 9 pm, which led to the arrest of a Prospect Street resident.
When deputies arrived in the area of the call, a male was seen slamming his front door after yelling at the responding officers. The male was later identified as 32-year-old David Knapp, who then ran out the back door – and was detained by deputies.
Upon further investigation it was determined that a domestic incident had happened earlier – involving a female and 1-year-old child. Both were safe at another location, according to deputies.
During the investigation it was discovered that Knapp possessed marijuana and mushrooms. He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful imprisonment, unlawful possession of marijuana, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and harassment.
Knapp was arraigned in Ovid Town Court and committed to the Seneca County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 secured bond.
The charges will be answered at a later date.
