A position by position breakdown of the Buffalo Bills roster as training camp begins

When Sean McDermott blew the whistle to bring an end to the spring workout period of the Bills’ 2018 season, he did so with a smile on his face, and not just because the final play of the minicamp in mid-June ended with prize rookie quarterback Josh Allen throwing a 70-yard touchdown pass to fellow rookie Austin Proehl.

Now in his second year as the Bills’ coach, McDermott was looking to break spring practice with his team light years ahead of where it was in the spring of 2017 when he was first building his foundation, indoctrinating his “process” if you will. He believes he accomplished that goal.

“I’m extremely proud to be a part of this organization, number one,” he said. “The second year, really going through it, you see progress and not everybody sees (it), just because it’s not obvious at all times; it’s not on the scoreboard, but it’s in there. Every corner of our building, we have to pick up points, and I’ve seen that this offseason. We’re further ahead this year than we were last year.”
