A barn was destroyed after a fire in Walworth, according to officials, after a structure fire was reported during the early-afternoon hours.
Several structures around it were partially damaged, as well, according to those reports.
The fire broke out on Route 350 between Plank Road and Atlantic Avenue.
The owner of the property said that the barn was used as a chicken rescue, where she took unwanted chickens and cared for them. She used their eggs to offset the cost of caring for them.
The main barn was destroyed, and two nearby sheds were damaged. The siding on a nearby garage was also damaged.
It’s unclear how many chickens died in the fire, or escaped.
The fire remains under investigation, according to officials.
