Port Byron man had stolen car, controlled substance during investigation

State Police say a a suspicious vehicle complaint in the Village of Weedsport led to the discovery of a stolen vehicle around 2:46 am on North Seneca Street.

Upon investigation it was determined that the vehicle was stolen, and being operated by Westley J. Alfred, 37, of Port Byron who had been operating it on a suspended license.

Police say he also possessed a controlled substance.



As result Alfred was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class E felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors.

He was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail.
