Town of Waterloo board to consider solar farm moratorium extension

The Town Board will conduct a public hearing Monday to introduce Local Law 4 of 2018, extending an existing nine-month moratorium on approvals or permits for commercial solar farms for another nine months.

Supervisor Don Trout said MRB Group is writing new solar farm regulations for inclusion in the town’s recently adopted comprehensive plan and the extension of the moratorium would allow that work to be completed and incorporated into the town code before any applications are considered. MRB Group is a Rochester engineering and architectural firm.

The board will also conduct a public hearing on updates to the Community Development Block Grant homeowner rehabilitation grant program criteria.

The board will also discuss a potential, pre-qualified Community Development Block Grant home repair grant applicant who is related to an elected town official and whether it would be appropriate to award that person a grant.
