More traffic changes will be coming to Lincoln Street in downtown Auburn as the city continues work on the Equal Rights Heritage Center.
Starting at 5 a.m. Monday, July 23, the east side of Lincoln Street, from the entrance of the parking garage to the intersection of Lincoln and South streets, will be closed to traffic in both directions so construction crews can “work on the underground utilities and modifications to the street curbing,” City Manager Jeff Dygert said Thursday during the Auburn City Council meeting. There will be no west bound traffic allowed on to Lincoln Street from South Street, according to a press release from the city. Traffic will be detoured around the block.
The parking garage will remain accessible on the west side of Lincoln Street. The portion of road from William Street to the exit of the parking garage will become a two-way street and drivers will be able to access the garage through the exit, which will be configured for two-way traffic.
