GrassRoots camping options expanded

The Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival is fast approaching, and some changes have been made this year to the site.

The organization has purchased a large lot behind the grocery store, across the street from the main festival site. It is called Across the Way. It will function as a replacement for both Off-Site and Next-Door Camping, as well as festival parking. It will accommodate 600 campsites.

Although it’s not a long walk, a shuttle will be available to get from Across the Way to the Front Gate. All camping in this location is vehicle camping, where you have the option of purchasing a small or large site. Some spots are wooded but most are in the field. There are port-a-johns, showers, security and vendors.

Cooking stoves are allowed at your vehicle camping campsites. In order to allow cooking (propane stoves, hibachi grills, etc.; absolutely no open campfires), campsites have to be 1,250 square feet and called “Large Sites.” The traditional size vehicle campsites will be called “Small Sites.” Camp stoves aren’t allowed at Small Sites.

Small Sites accommodate one car and one good-sized tent.
