Deputies say a 59-year-old Romulus man was arrested on misdemeanor animal torture charges after trapping his neighbors dog in a steel box.
Jeffrey L. Vanhorn, 59, of Iron Bridge Road was charged with torturing an animal under agriculture and markets law following an investigation into a trapped dog.
Vanhorn is said to have trapped his neighbor’s dog in a steel enclosed box for over eight hours while temperatures exceeded 90 degrees.
Deputies report that the two-year-old lab mix was freed, and has since recovered.
Vanhorn was released on an appearance ticket and will answer the charge in Romulus Town Court at a later date.
