Mayor Lovely Warren introduced Pegula Sports as the interim manager of Blue Cross Arena on Friday, with an eye toward a long-term deal.
“Absolutely that is the plan,” she said when asked if the city wanted the Rochester Americans, Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills owners in charge from now on.
The interim pact will run from Aug. 1 through Dec. 31, as first reported by the Democrat and Chronicle on Thursday.
Pegula Sports and Entertainment (PSE) will take over all aspects of Blue Cross Arena at the Community War Memorial operations, including concessions, ticketing, booking, and negotiating tenant agreements. PSE will pay the city $5,000 monthly rent. The agreement has yet to be finalized and was not released, but officials said it mirrors past terms with SMG, before the city assumed the financial risk with the present agreement and paid SMG a management fee.
