A Newfield man was arrested this week after a New York State Police investigation revealed he stole several thousand dollars of unemployment benefits.
Ransome S. VanRiper, 40, was arrested on Wednesday at 9:56 a.m. and is charged with felony third-degree grand larceny.
Police say VanRiper is accused of stealing over $7,000 dollars in unemployment benefits in 2014 while he was still employed.
