Ontario County Fair marks 175th year

The Ontario County Fair is marking a major milestone later this month.

The 175th edition of the fair will run from July 24-28 at the fairgrounds off County Road 10. Fair President Casey Kunes said this year’s events will stay true to the fair’s agricultural roots while offering people a creative entertainment schedule.

“The Ontario County Fair is proud to celebrate our 175th anniversary. I believe it is a testament to the perseverance of all the members involved throughout our past,” Kunes said. “The main objective of the fair in its early years is still a large part of what we do now — to provide a venue where people can exhibit agricultural products of all types and to educate the public and foster the development of our youth. After all, our motto is ‘cultivating the next generation.’”

An emphasis this year will be placed on the long history of the fair. Special exhibits will show that history and the fair’s evolution from then to now.

Featured events daily will include 4-H youth activities, youth livestock and animal shows, exhibition halls, live music, food vendors, and midway rides by Playland Amusements.
