The 36th annual Eddie Meath All-Star Football Game was canceled Sunday due to the heat index.
The game for high school seniors was originally scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Eastridge, but organizers attempted to beat the heat by pushing the start time back to 6 p.m. and eventually 8 p.m.
However, game Chairman Dick Cerone was forced to cancel the game early Sunday afternoon after field temperatures exceeded 100 degrees. “I got called (around 4 p.m.) from the administration at Eastridge saying they couldn’t let people on the field with the heat index.
