Sage Gerling is finding out she has a lot of fans in Geneva, and some of them are people who have not necessarily had good things to say about how city government has been run.
Gerling, the acting city manager, has been identified as one of three finalists for the job by Jim Meaney’s Geneva Believer blog and in a multitude of social media posts. Additionally, a Change.org public petition supporting her as the next city manager also has been launched.
The petition states that “there is only one city manager candidate who, without a doubt, treats people fairly, respects diverse voices, acts with integrity, and is committed to the people of Geneva. Sage Gerling has helped our city develop neighborhood initiatives, supports residents in the foundry neighborhoods, shows up to community meetings, and has served as acting city manager with grace and the utmost competence.”
It adds that she “treats people with dignity and acts with integrity. Sage has been fighting for us for many years. It’s time we fight for her.”
