Penn Yan man arrested after breaking into, vandalizing pair of churches

A Penn Yan man faces multiple charges after two break-ins at area churches, according to police.

Michael A. Badamy, 28, of Penn Yan was arrested by police in Penn Yan after a joint investigation between the Yates County Sheriff’s Office and Penn Yan Police Department after two churches were reportedly broken into and vandalized.

It is alleged that Badamy and an unidentified female illegally made entry into the Penn Yan Methodist Church Memorial building during overnight hours – causing damage to windows, doors, antique furniture, and office cabinets.



After the pair left the Methodist church they then broke into an caused damage to a church on Flat Street.

Badamy was charged with third-degree burglary, five counts of criminal mischief, petit larceny, and criminal trespass.

He was arraigned in Penn Yan Village Court and remanded to the Yates County Jail due to previous felony convictions.

The female accomplice was not identified by police.
