Customers of Seneca County water district to pay more for water July 1st

Effective Sunday, people who buy their water from Seneca County Water District No. 1 will pay more.

The Seneca County Board of Supervisors approved the rate hike Tuesday night. First, the board’s Public Works Committee voted 5-0 to adopt the increase. That was followed by a 13-0 vote of the full board.

Rates will:

• Rise from $6.98 to $7.75 per 1,000 gallons for customers within the boundaries of the district that serves most of the south end of the county.

• The minimum bill, based on 8,000 gallons used per quarter, will go from $55.84 to $62.

• For those who live outside the boundaries but buy their water from District No. 1, the increase will be $6.30 to $7.05 per 1,000 gallons.
