Penn Yan man faces over 20 charges after dirt bike pursuit, lengthy investigation

A Penn Yan man is in custody following a lengthy investigation into a dirt bike pursuit, which spanned three towns in Yates County.

Police say Dominic G. Bruno, 21, of Penn Yan was arrested after a warrant was issued following a vehicle pursuit that happened on May 28th involving a dirt bike.

Bruno was operating a dirt bike on Seneca Street when police attempted to execute a traffic stop. They say he failed to stop and comply – and led police on a pursuit through the Village at a rate of more than double the posted speed limit.

He continued to drive recklessly on multiple roads in the Village of Penn Yan, Town of Milo, and the Town of Benton, to which he eventually turned into an agricultural field to evade officers.

Officers were not able to locate or take him into custody at that time.

On June 24th Penn Yan Police were informed where Bruno was located. He was taken into custody at his residence with the assistance of the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say Bruno was charged with unlawfully fleeing police, two counts of reckless driving, three counts of failure to stop, two counts of speeding, four counts of no turn signal, unregistered motorcycle, uninsured motorcycle, five counts failure to keep right, unlicensed operator, improper plates, moving from lane unsafely, and hands not on handlebars.

He was remanded to the Yates County Jail and will answer the charges at a later date.
