Teens steal van from Hillside in Romulus, caught in Corning

Two teenagers were arrested in by Corning Police after they allegedly stole a minivan from Hillside’s Varick Campus in Romulus early Sunday morning.

Corning Police received a call on Sunday around 4:30 AM reporting a gray minivan near McKinney Park that was driving without its lights on.

Officers said they found a gray 2010 Dodge Caravan at the park, but no one was inside. The van was registered to Hillside Shared Services of Rochester.

Less than an hour later, officers found two male teens walking on West Third Street near Walnut Street.

The two were determined to have run away from the Hillside Varick Campus in Romulus. Officers said the two stole the minivan from the campus and drove to Corning.

The 16-year-old was charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property and endangering the welfare of a child and was remanded to the Steuben County Jail. The 14-year-old was returned to the custody of a staff member from Hillside.
