Police officer suffers serious injury after Canandaigua incident

Members of the Canandaigua Police Department arrested a 32-year-old male after an incident at the West Avenue Bridge.

Police say on June 22nd, around 2:25 pm Clarence Grover, 32, of Canandaigua had reportedly threatened to jump off of the bridge on West Avenue.

As an officer attempted to prevent Grover from jumping off the bridge – a struggle broke out between the two. The officer suffered a serious shoulder injury, as result.




Grover was subdued, preventing him from jumping off the bridge. However, he was charged with second-degree assault – a felony – and transported to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.

Police say the officer was taken by ambulance to F.F. Thompson Hospital to be treated for the shoulder injury.
