The biggest head-to-head battle of the 2018-19 school year in New York will not be played out on a field, in a gym or at a park.
Instead, it will transpire in a meeting room in Latham, a hamlet a few miles north of Albany. That is where the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s boys basketball committee will meet on Oct. 12.
There will be an assortment of items on the group’s agenda but none will be more important than the decision on the venue for the boys basketball tournament for 2020-22. A request for bids was sent out by the NYSPHSAA last week, and the proposals will be reviewed and put to a vote at that meeting.
