A proposed deal that would have allowed a Liverpool college’s basketball team to use the Cato-Meridian Central School District’s recreation center for games and practices has fallen through.
District superintendent Terry Ward said in an email Thursday that the possible contract giving Bryant & Stratton College’s men’s basketball team access to the center’s gymnasium had been called off.
“The proposed (recreation) center contract is no longer. (Bryant & Stratton) went with another organization,” Ward said.
Ward did not provide further details such as which facility the college chose.
Kim Bratt, the center’s director, said the decision was made “a week or two ago.” The college was on a time crunch, Bratt said, to choose a facility to maintain the team’s practice schedule. Sue Cumoletti, the college’s director of Syracuse colleges, confirmed the dissolution of the talks with the district in an email.
