The Owasco Lake Watershed Management Council is hoping to create an executive director position in order to have one person dedicated to coordinating the variety of efforts and programs aimed at managing the lake.
Management council chair and Owasco Town Supervisor Ed Wagner presented a preliminary draft of a job description for an executive director position at Tuesday’s council meeting.
The main focus of the position would be to coordinate with “watershed stakeholders and decision makers” from the variety of government agencies, watershed associations, and residents that contribute to managing Owasco Lake’s watershed, according to the draft description.
Watershed council member and Auburn City Councilor Debra McCormick said Thursday that especially with the recent prevalence of harmful algal blooms it’s necessary to have someone to focus and lead the efforts of all the different groups.
