After gaining valuable feedback from the community earlier this spring, the Town of Seneca Falls and multiple agencies will partner to host a Community Services Fair. The event is slated for Thursday, June 28th at the Seneca Falls Community Center, located at 35 Water Street. Pizza, wings, and salad will be available and provided by the Town of Seneca Falls while supplies last.
The community-based services fair was heavily requested by those in attendance at April’s Community Input Sessions, which were held throughout the County and open to the public. The fair will be an opportunity for residents in Seneca Falls, and surrounding communities to learn more about the services offered by Seneca County; and other community-based agencies.
Margaret Morse, Director of Community Services in Seneca County said the volume of services offered is one of the strengths that this rural community has at the ready. “Unfortunately though, many are unaware of the substantial array of services available to them,” she explained. “We’re continuing on our mission to support our community and build upon our strengths. We hope this community services fair series will bring people together, while educating and connecting them to the agencies and organizations that hope to serve them.”
Rhonda Jasper, Executive Director of the United Way of Seneca County echoed those sentiments. “At each of our Community Input Forums, the audience changed but the main themes remained the same – people don’t feel as connected to each other and people don’t know what services and opportunities are available in their communities,” she explained. “We know that, while county-wide events can be a successful way to bring smaller communities together, such activities are not convenient or even accessible to all our county residents. We hope that by collaborating with smaller communities within Seneca County, it will encourage more people to come out to these fairs as everyone will have an opportunity to attend one closer to their home, in a more familiar setting with familiar faces.”
Seneca Falls Town Supervisor Greg Lazzaro said, “The Leadership in Seneca County, has to work to not only make Seneca County a great place to live, our efforts have to make it a safe place to live.” He continued, “It is my belief that with the efforts of our Mental Health Department, Human Services, Law Enforcement Agencies, the many non-for profit service agencies we will continue to keep focused on these goals. We will
continue to educate the Public, so they can understand and access all of the services they need.”
The upcoming community services fair series is part of the ‘Seneca Strong’ initiative, which serves to bring the community together through a collaborative, unified effort.
