Terri Burkett and her 9-year-old son Max of Canadice, Ontario County were in the Canandaigua area for a doctor’s appointment when the urge to find out what lurks in the clean glacial waters of Canandaigua Lake struck.

Locals will tell you that when it comes to fishing this popular Finger Lake from shore, there’s no better place than the historic Canandaigua City Pier.

“He’s always willing to go,’’ said Terri Burkett, who keeps the family’s angling gear in their car trunk just in case. “This is definitely a good place to bring kids for sure. Oh, I got one.’’
