Cayuga County Mental Health and the Department of Social Services are proposing a slight realignment in staffing that would protect the county from losing money and even generate additional revenue.
Director of Community Services Ray Bizzari told the county Legislature’s Health and Human Services committee Thursday that the county’s Children’s Health Home Care Management work is not sustainable considering how the state Department of Health will eventually stop paying for currently supported slots.
“Eliminating that program, I think, is going to help us financially in the long run but also we’re not able to do that work at capacity,” Bizzari said.
To remedy that, Bizzari proposed a multi-step plan. First, the current Children’s Home Healthcare manager position would be phased out and contracted out at no cost the county as contractors would be managed through Medicaid.
