One person has died from what police are calling a suspected overdose in Penn Yan.
When officers arrived on-scene they found a subject who was unconscious and barely breathing. Officers performed first aid in an attempt to resuscitate the individual, according to police.
Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance personnel also performed first aid in an attempt to resuscitate the individual. At that point, NARCAN was administered. However, police say those attempts were unsuccessful.
Police say a friend discovered the person unconscious and called another friend who responded with a personal NARCAN kit. When it did not work – they called 911.
Officers recovered several used and unused syringes at the scene.
The victim was not identified, but was pronounced dead at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital.
