Lottery officials identify $1M winner as Waterloo resident

Lottery officials have identified the woman who won $1,000,000 on a scratch off ticket purchased at the Seneca Mini Mart in Waterloo.

Mary Monahan, 61, a Waterloo resident called the feeling incredible – pointing out that when she first scratched off the ticket – that she thought it was a mistake.



“I like the cashword tickets because they take longer to play,” explained Monahan. “At first I thought I did something wrong. I kept counting the words over and over!”

While the $1 million ‘win’ will net to $671,800 – Monahan said she plans to save for the future and pay off bills.
