Minnesota Twins great Joe Mauer is set to begin a rehab assignment with the Rochester Red Wings on Tuesday, according to Twins manager Paul Molitor.
The former American League MVP is scheduled to be the designated hitter on Tuesday and play first base on Wednesday with Rochester, barring any setbacks.
Mauer, 35, was placed on the 10-day disabled list on May 19 with a cervical neck strain and concussion-like symptoms.
