Garrett Bell delivered his usual excellence on the mound Friday, but it wasn’t enough as Lansing’s season ended with a 1-0 loss to Avon in a New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C baseball semifinal at Binghamton’s Conlon Field.
Bell, a junior right-hander, pitched a three-hitter for the Bobcats after tossing a five-hitter in a 3-1 win over Thomas A. Edison in the Section 4 final and striking out 13 in a 7-3 state quarterfinal win over Little Falls/West Canada Valley. Bell finished with a 9-2 record.
