Brian Manktelow’s quest for the Republican nomination in the race for the state Assembly’s 130th District seat seems to be lining up perfectly.
On Thursday, he received the overwhelming endorsement of the Wayne County Republican Committee. Additionally, the Lyons town supervisor has landed the endorsements of the GOP committees in Oswego and Cayuga counties, which, with Wayne, make up the district.
The 130th covers all of Wayne County, a good chunk of Cayuga and the northwestern section of Oswego County.
Current Assemblyman Bob Oaks, who chairs the Wayne County GOP Committee, is retiring at the end of the year.
“I’m just very thankful for the opportunity to follow in Bob’s footsteps,” said Manktelow on Monday, adding he has the “background and knowledge” necessary to do the job.
Manktelow said the constituent issues in the three counties in the district are similar.
