Seneca Falls Farmers Market Beginning June 6th

Celebrating its 10th season, the Seneca Falls Farmers Market is set to reopen for the 2018 season on Wednesday, June 6th. As in years past, the market will run every Wednesday through mid-October from 9AM-1:30PM, rain or shine.

The market will again be held in beautiful People’s Park along the canal (15 Water Street if using GPS) and will feature the largest number of local producers and artisans in the market’s history. From annual favorites to new arrivals, there is sure to be something for everyone throughout this open-air market.

Fresh locally-grown produce loaded with “just-picked” flavor will be available…including tomatoes, asparagus, peppers, greens, squash, beans, onions, corn, fruits, and much more. Other local items like honey, maple syrup, farm-fresh eggs, lavender, fresh-cut flowers, maple-flavored treats, homemade baked goods, grass-fed beef, gluten-free goodies, delicious jams, and locally-roasted coffee will be on hand.

“We’re looking forward to another fantastic year at the Farmers Market,” says Greg Zellers, who returns as this year’s market manager. “Support from the community is the reason we’re here and it’s why our vendors work so hard to bring the very best they have. We tell everyone to mark their calendars so they remember to visit us every Wednesday. After all, this is their market, too.”

Aside from fresh fruits, vegetables, and delectable treats, the market will also feature local artisans who carefully craft home décor items, handmade jewelry, hand-poured candles, linens, and aromatic lavender-filled items.

Produce vendors will be accepting Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) coupons, which are available through the WIC Program and Office for the Aging if qualified. The farmers market is also able to accept Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) and SNAP when purchasing qualifying items at the market. For every $5 spent, EBT participants will receive an additional $2 coupon that is also good throughout the market.

A wide variety of BBQ lunch options will be available every market day from Martin’s Smokehouse BBQ with menu items such as pulled pork, ribs, chicken, mac ‘n cheese, and delicious sides.

Free children programs are also in planning and will begin once the school year closes. Updated farmers market information, including the children’s program calendar, will be posted weekly on the market’s Facebook page and website, which is available at http://senecamarket.com.
