Michael Sculli threw his third-straight shutout Saturday to lead Canandaigua to a 4-0 win over Maryvale in the Class A Far West Regional at Orchard Park High School.
Sculli threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts and also connected for a two-run home run in the fourth inning.
“If you have a pitcher like him with that kind of stuff and play defense behind him well, you’re always going to be in the game,” said Canandaigua head coach Dale Werth.
Defense was not always a strong point for the Braves this season after graduating both middle infielders, but that has slowly improved during the season.
