Police: Three arrested, guns seized after Auburn pursuit

Police say three people have been charged, and a number of guns were seized following

On Thursday the Auburn Police Department received a burglary complaint at a Holley Street residence in Auburn. The person reported that the home had been entered and ransacked sometime between May 29th and 31st, according to police.

Many items were reported missing, including several long guns at a 60 inch television.

An investigation quickly developed leads to the whereabouts of the guns, and at approximately 7 p.m. members of the Auburn Police Department and Finger Lakes Drug Task Force observed several long guns being passed from one vehicle to another in the parking lot of the West End Plaza.

Officers attempted to stop a black Jeep on Genesee Street nearing Dunning Avenue, as it left the scene, but the vehicle failed to yield to the officers – and tried to flee the area.

The Jeep turned south on Warren Avenue where it struck a parked car. The two occupants fled on foot from the vehicle and a short foot pursuit followed.

Both suspects were apprehended, and police learned that the Jeep was reported stolen on May 27th.

Aaron J. Peters and Jerad A. Stiles were in the stolen vehicle and arrested on several charges.

A total of five individuals were detained for questioning – and a third individual was formally charged.

Aaron J. Peters, 32, of Auburn was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, and several other traffic violations.

He was also charged on an outstanding warrant for felony assault, felony criminal possession of a weapon, criminal obstruction of breathing, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Jerad Stiles, 29, of Auburn was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument.

Police say Steven M. Reynolds, 37, of Auburn was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

All of the charges will be answered in Auburn City Court at a later date.
