Students at Auburn High School saw their day cut short on Wednesday after a bullet was found on school property, according to officials.
Auburn Enlarged City School District Superintendent Jeffrey Pirozzolo said a group of students found the bullet outside the cafeteria at around 11:30 a.m. The school immediately moved into a shelter-in-place status; as law enforcement began investigating.
At 1:15 p.m Pirozzolo said students were dismissed to allow law enforcement to continue the investigation.
“I didn’t want to do it to the whole community because I didn’t want to confuse anyone,” he told the Auburn Citizen. “We will help students walk out to their rides and walk home, and that will allow officers to investigate where the bullet came from.”
The investigation is ongoing and this story will be updated as more information becomes available.
