A 48-year-old Newark man was stopped by deputies in Phelps on Saturday after allegedly smoking marijuana from a glass pipe while driving.
Steven L. Stevens, 48, of Newark was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, no hands on steering wheel and unlawful possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on Saturday.
Deputies say Stevens was observed operating his vehicle while appearing to be smoking marijuana from a glass pipe. Through this process, he had no hands on the wheel.
He submitted to a drug evaluation, and it was determined he was under the influence of marijuana.
The charges will be answered at a later date in Phelps Town Court.
