Himrod woman stopped for jaywalking, arrested on disorderly conduct charges in Penn Yan

Police say a 41-year-old Himrod woman was arrested and taken to the Yates County Jail after a simple ordinance violation escalated.

Police say Holly E. Holton, 41, of Himrod was stopped for jaywalking on East Elm Street — and during the incident she became ‘unruly’. She began yelling at officers while screaming profanities toward them — creating unreasonable noise to the public.

She was taken into custody for disorderly conduct, open container and jay walking.

She was arraigned in Penn Yan Village Court and sent to the Yates County Jail in lieu of $250 cash bail.

The charges will be answered at a later date in Penn Yan Village Court.
