‘Auburn at its best’: Volunteers finish Casey Park playground installation in Auburn

“Old Time Rock and Roll,” performed by Perform 4 Purpose, played throughout Casey Park as the community gathered around the new playground for the 5 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday.

Mayor Michael Quill opened the ceremony for the Casey Park playground by thanking Casey Park Elementary students for sharing what they like in a playground, thanking teachers and thanking the community.

“The biggest thank you has to go to all our volunteers,” Quill said, adding that they spent the week building the park “like an old fashioned barn raising.”

Since the playground build week kicked off last Tuesday morning, seemingly all of Auburn pitched in — people volunteered, provided labor and businesses donated needed items and lunch and dinner each day of the build.

“We’ll cut the ribbon and officially open the park and let everyone have fun,” Quill said after expressing thanks for the community’s efforts.
