Child run over by car in Sodus on Monday

Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts reports the investigation of a child being struck by a vehicle on North Centenary Road in the Town of Sodus.

Deputies responded to the report of a 3-year-old child being run over by a vehicle at 6440 N. Centenary Road on Monday around 5:30 p.m.

The incident occurred when a vehicle operated by Bernard J. Wiemer Jr. was in the driveway of the residence.



The juvenile in the back seat freed himself of his child restraint seat and opened the back door of the vehicle and fell out. The juvenile was sturck by the right rear tire and sustained minor injuries to his left abdomen.

He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for a check of his injuries.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Sodus Town Ambulance and Fire Department along with ALS Medic 84.
