Seneca Supervisors committee again opposes Cayuga Nation trust application

Almost 12 years ago today, April 13, 2006, the Cayuga Indian Nation in Seneca Falls applied to put 129 acres of land it owns in Seneca and Cayuga counties into federal, tax-exempt trust.

Despite strong opposition by the two counties, approval of that application appeared certain on Oct. 22, 2010, when the BIA determined that the final Environmental Impact Statement for the application would not result in any significant negative environmental impacts.
