Police: Woman stole thousands from Dundee Central School District

Authorities say a Canandaigua woman has been indicted on felony charges after stealing thousands of dollars from the Dundee Central School District.

After a two-year investigation — a grand jury indicted 44-year-old Amy Corron on third-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud charges.

She is accused of stealing more than $3,000 in student funds between September 2015 and December 2016.

She was arraigned in Yates County Court and remanded to the Yates County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 secured bond.

Dundee School Superintendent Kelly Houck said Corron was a 7-12 English teacher at the Jr.-Sr. High School. She resigned from her position at Dundee Central School in January 2017.

Houck said in a statement, “We intend to take all steps necessary to respect Ms. Corron’s rights while at the same time taking all prudent steps necessary to ensure the welfare of the school community.”

Anyone with additional information about the incident or investigation is urged to call the Yates County Sheriff’s Office at (315) 536-4438.
