The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office will offer two boater safety courses in June.
The courses will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 16 and Saturday, June 23. The June 16 course will be held at the Moravia Fire Department, 38 Keeler Ave., Moravia, and the June 23 course will take place at the Ira Fire House, 12591 Route 176, Cato.
In a press release, Sheriff David Gould said the course is free, but there is a $10 fee for adults over 18 to obtain their New York State Boater Safety Cards. Completion of a boater safety course is mandatory for any motorboat operators born after May 1, 1996, as well as anyone who operates a personal watercraft. The courses are open to adults and children ages 10 and up.
Lunch will not be provided. The sheriff’s office recommends participants bring a bag lunch.
Anyone interested in attending a course should register with Deputy Glen Dudley at (315) 253-4905 or [email protected].
