Junius cabin destroyed, fire deemed accidental after investigation

An investigation determined that a Junius fire started in a wood stove, which resulted in a cabin on West Townline Road to be deemed a ‘total loss’.

Around 7:42 p.m. on Saturday deputies along with Junius, Magee, Waterloo, Clyde, and Oaks Corners fire departments responded to 1238 West Townline Road for a reported structure fire. The call originally came in from the Ontario County 911 Center reporting that a cabin located on the property was fully-involved.

The property owner, identified as Christopher Lints, 34, who lives on a house located at that address stated that he had been renting it out to another person. Bradley Hample, 34, the tenant of the cabin was not inside at the time of the fire. Investigators believe that it started inside a wood stove.

Sheriff Luce says the fire was deemed ‘accidental’ and that estimated damages were $65,000.

He notes that the cabin was insured.
